On the Road Again

Yep, time to get my sorry buttocks to the airport.

I’m headed to San Diego today for work… again. Sigh, I never thought I’d ever think of traveling as boring, but man I am so bored of packing/unpacking, airports, airplanes and hotels. I just want to stay home and play with my daughter and dog, is that really so much to ask for?

[cracking thunder of doom]

Huh, I guess that means, “Yes.”

  1. Wow, so it’s not just me. I had the same realization when my son was about 2…isn’t your daughter coming up on that age? I traveled 3 weeks a month for work over 3 years or so and loved it but after Chris, my son, came along it wasn’t the same. Instead of checking out new places or enjoying each city I’d work and then sulk in my hotel room about how I could not be home that day. Not long after that I got a new job with MUCH less travel and my attitude is back the way it used to be. Now that I only travel once a month or so I like it again and get to be with the family more.

Good luck to you MG, it’s a tough road but with a supportive family and a gaggle of technology it can be better. We got the webcam thing going and email/sms/im/ect to keep me more involved when I was away. It really helps.

  2. Well, I think I know what you are talking about. I don’t have a child yet (thanx god!), but sometimes, when I’m traveling a lot to work I feel a little bit bored. But normally I love to travel, even if I have to work. Maybe a child can ruin it… hehehehe just kidding (well, in your case I see it isn’t bad, but a change of behavior, now you want to be at home).
