Bioshocked

Nothing good will come of this.

I’ve been playing Bioshock on my XBox 360 and to tell the truth, I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. Oh sure, the visuals look great and the story is pretty good, but to me it feels lacking. What it’s missing isn’t cool concepts or awesome stuff, which it has plenty of with the Little Sisters, Big Daddy’s, Adam, Eve, plasmids, hacking, weapons, and a giant, sprawling underwater city in decay. It also has a certain ‘wow’ factor when you first see it and begin to explore. However, after playing it for almost a week, even though I do like it enough to finish the game, I’ve found myself bored with it. I’ve gone back and looked at some of the games that I like to play and I can’t figure out why Bioshock isn’t a game I like as much as everyone else on the planet.

It’s driving me a little crazy.

I mean, it’s got all the right pieces to make me happy, it’s even fun in a semi-repetitive way. But maybe I’m finding it boring for the simple reason that I’m bored with first-person-shooters. No, that can’t be true because I just played through Half-Life 2 and, even though I hated the control system, I enjoyed playing the game itself. I’m not sure what the reason is, but Bioshock just isn’t doing “it” for me and that’s making me sad. And, as everyone knows, there’s only one thing I can do chase the sadness away.

That’s right. I’m going to play all 3 Halo games… AGAIN.

  1. I understand what you mean..I feel the same way about Halo after playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. But really my comparison of COD4 to Halo isn’t really fair because I only like the multi-player for COD4 and I haven’t played the mp for Halo. Then again, I haven’t played the mp for Halo because I didn’t like the campaign (not because of the story but the controls). Resistance 2 is the closest to COD4 in terms of gameplay but the mp doesn’t measure up. Call of Duty 5: World At War is just just plain horrible for mp. The only reason I haven’t traded the game in because of the nazi zombie mode. The sp campaign is also pretty good but I can only play it so many times.

  2. I don’t play online so multiplayer only comes into effect when I have people come over and play. And Halo (the original) was and still is the best multiplayer game. I haven’t played COD4 so I can’t say, but if the single player game isn’t fun then I won’t care for it.

  3. You should rent it and see if you like COD4 sp. I didn’t like it because it was short. You can finish the game in acouple of hours. I like Resistance and COD5 SP because it’s much longer and you can also do online co-op campaign which is awesome. It becomes a squad-based game but with real people instead of a cg squad.

  4. COD4 was great. I really enjoyed SP.

I dont play multiplayer because well.. I stink.

Left 4 Dead coop is still my preferred game/mode. COD 5 demo came out today (a bit late, eh?) so I’ll be giving that a go in the next day or so.

  5. COD5:World At War SP is pretty good and you can play up to 4-player online campaign co-op. I hate the mp for W@W though. It’s just not playable for me (because I suck at it apparently). I don’t suck at COD4 mp so I don’t understand why I’m so bad at COD5 mp. But anyway, there’s also a zombie mode for 4-player online co-op and a new zombie co-op mode to be released this week

  6. I haven’t played L4D yet and I may never get to it once RE5 comes out. I like W@W’s spin on the zombie mode though. The new map that will be released later this week will also add perks and for 4-player parties, additional strategy play where the four players are split up and fight their way to the middle to meet up and defend against the horde of zombies…interesting concept to say the least.
